BSEB de-affiliates 36 schools and colleges- "Students of these institutions would be admitted to nearby schools under special circumstances", said Anand Kishore, BSEB Chairman.

Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) on Tuesday has taken the call to de-affiliate over 36 schools and colleges all over the state for not obeying the prescribed rules and criteria to run these institutes.

BSEB chairman Anand Kishore told in a recent press meet, "The Board has decided to suspend the affiliation of 36 schools and colleges for their failure to comply with the prescribed norms for running the institutions. These schools and colleges failed to adhered to the criteria and norms set by the Board on which they had taken affiliation."

Here is what the Chairman said at the press conference

  1. The board has also served a notice to the schools, asking them to explain why their recognition should not be cancelled, Kishore said, adding that the institutions have to reply within 15 days.
  2. An inquiry was also being conducted on schools and colleges which have been granted affiliation in past two years during the tenure of tainted former BSEB chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh, he said.
  3. The institutions were among the 212 schools and colleges in 31 districts which were being probed by a committee constituted by district magistrates.
  4. The committee will check whether these institutions are complied with the 18 criteria fixed by the Board to run educational institutions, Kishore said, adding that the committee made on-the-spot inspections.
  5. Out of 212 institutions, the Board has so far received reports about 150 schools and colleges, and of these, the affiliation of 88 institutions has been cancelled, he said.
  6. The students studying in schools and colleges that have been suspended, would be admitted to nearby schools in special circumstances, said Kishore.
  7. There were shortcomings with regard to the appointment of teaching and non-teaching staff and the school buildings were not constructed as per the criteria, he said.
  8. Most of the schools did not have proper library, laboratory, playground, sports equipment, fire safety norms, administrative room etc., he said.

The news comes as a shock and questions the credibility of the board after the shocking Bihar topper scam recently. The schools lack proper infrastructure and management causing the recent action by the investigating team leading to the shutdown of nearly 36 schools and colleges.
