A dietitian is an expert in dietetics; that is, human nutrition and the regulation of diet. A dietitian alters their patient's nutrition based upon their medical condition and individual needs. Dietitians are regulated healthcare professionals licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat nutritional problems.

A registered dietitian (RD) or registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) is a dietitian who meets all of a set of special academic and professional requirements, including the completion of a bachelor's degree with an accredited nutrition curriculum, an internship at an approved health-care facility, foodservice organization, or community agency, and satisfactory performance on a registration exam.

 

Eligibility Criteria for Certificate in Dietician Course

  • The applicant must be completed Tenth standard or Twelfth or its equivalent from a recognized school board.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ and clients’ health needs and diet

  • Counsel patients on nutrition issues and healthy eating habits

  • Develop meal plans, taking both cost and clients’ preferences into account

  • Evaluate the effects of meal plans and change the plans as needed

  • Promote better nutrition by speaking to groups about diet, nutrition, and the relationship between good eating habits and preventing or managing specific diseases

  • Keep up with the latest nutritional science research

  • Write reports to document patient progress

  • Creating a clinical nutrition treatment plan for a client.

  • Educating the public on nutrition issues.

  • Researching the effects of nutrition on health and fitness

Higher Studies after Certificate in Dietician Course

  • Students who have completed one year of Certificate in Dietician course after Tenth or Twelfth are eligible to get admission to the related Under Graduation courses or its equivalent.
