If you are already holding a valid Driver's licence to drive a car (LMV), these are the procedures to get a badge number.

  1. Go to your concerned RTA office from where your present license has been issued.
  2. Apply for fresh learners license (for which you need the following
    1. Form-2 (application): mention that you are applying for transport license
    2. Form-1 & Form-1a ( medical certificate) you will find a doctor to sign this at RTA office premises. ( He will charge Rs.50)
    3. you need to attach copies of your present driving license, ADHAR card, additional address proof like electricity bill, 10th  class memo.
    4. you need to carry ORIGINAL 10th class memo and driving license
    5. Two passport sized photographs
    6. Rs. 60 as application fee.
    7. after receiving your application they will take your photograph and thumb impression and immediately issues you the learner's license. there WONT BE A COMPUTER BASED TEST FOR YOU.
    8. and you DONT NEED TO BOOK A SLOT FOR LEARNER'S licence.
  3. Book a driving test slot ( you can do this online)
    1. you need to pay Rs. 465 for driving test
    2. if you fail to show up on the day of driving test, it will be considered as absent and you need to re-book the slot by paying Rs.150.
    3. you need to carry the slot booking receipt, one passport sized photograph, adhar card copy, ORIGINAL driving license
    4. you need to drive type of motor cab for which you are seeking driving license. that means RTA office DO NOT PROVIDE you car for driving test.
    5. the car you are taking should be with transport registration (Yellow plate) and should fall in to the exact category for which you are seeking driving license ( Motor cab / maxi cab)
    6. and you should carry all ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS for the car ( Registration, fitness certificate, permit, insurence, Pollution under control certificate)
    7. you also need to attach a copy of the above mentioned vehicle documents along with your application.
    8. DON'T FREAK-OUT about the driving test. it is very easy you just need to drive in the shape of 8 and H. Just follow the driving directions drawn on the information board at the test center or ask the concerned personnel there.
  4. Finally you got a driver's license for transport vehicle ( eg. motor cab) but that doesn’t  include the badge number!!! (surprise)
  5. again go to the RTA office with your fresh driving license for transport vehicle and fill in the application for the badge number, attach the medical certificate (again!!) and copies of adhar card, additional address proof, and a fee of Rs.310.
  6. Finally you will receive your Driver's license for transport vehicle with Badge number.
  7. NOTE: above mentioned fee particulars are for transport license for motor cab/maxi cab. if you need license for another class of vehicle like heavy vehicle or tractor etc additional fee and additional forms will be there.
  8. DO NOT APPROACH RTA-AGENTS, they will charge you additional Rs.2000 and the time taken for the whole process and the result will be the same.
