Master of Science in Fabric and Apparel Designing is a postgraduate Fashion and Interior Designing course. Our students and faculty study apparel design and fiber science through the art of design, the science of chemistry and physics, the application of management principles, and the perspective of history. Course exposes the students to subjects like dyeing and printing, pattern making, sketching, advanced fabric science, statistics, research methods, world textiles, fashion & retail management & quality control in fabric & apparel. The duration of the course is two years and it is career orienting in nature that opens many scopes for them.

How is M.Sc. Fabric and Apparel Designing Course Beneficial?

  • It is beneficial to develop critical and analytical thinking of students for research in Textiles and Apparel Design.
  • The course trains the students to become professional fashion designers, textile designers, quality control officers, and work in textile testing laboratories, fabric construction technicians, in marketing, retailing & merchandising of textiles and garments industry as well as become entrepreneurs.
  • The Degree course serves as a basis for further higher studies in this field such as Ph.D. and M.Phil. for research work.

 Eligibility

  • Candidate with an overall average of B Grade or equivalent (55%) marks in B.Sc. Textile Science & Apparel Design, B.Sc. Apparel Design, B.Sc. Textiles & Clothing, B.Sc. Fashion Design, B.Sc. Fashion Apparel Design, B.Sc. Composite (Home Science) are eligible for this course.
  • Students with the following undergraduate degrees viz., B.Sc. Apparel Design, B.Sc. Fashion Design, B.Sc. Fashion Apparel Design, B.Sc. Composite (Home Science) are eligible provided they complete the required prerequisites by the end of Semester II i.e FY M.Sc.
