Government College of Engineering, Adoor (CEA) is a college in Adoor, Pathanamthitta District, Kerala, India, located 3 km from the town centre at Manakkala. It is affiliated to the Cochin University of Science and Technology and is run under the aegis of the Institute of Human Resources Development, an institute of the government of Kerala. The college was inaugurated in 1995 by the Chief Minister of Kerala A K Antony. College of Engineering Adoor is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Recently the college has been selected in Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Phase II.It is one of the most major engineering colleges in Pathanamthitta District and is one of the two only engineering colleges in the District.

 

Programs

CEA is a center of academic excellence that provides undergraduate studies to about 1000 students in four disciplines. The college offers BTech (Bachelor of Technology) degree in four streams and newly MTech (Master of Technology) degrees in Mechanical engineering with specialisation of thermal engineering . 10% of the total seats are given to lateral entry students in every discipline.

Admissions

Admissions are carried out on the basis of the ranks obtained in the All Kerala Common Entrance Examinations, conducted by the Controller of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala.The college follows a 50-50 method of admission from both merit and management streams.

 

Facilities

 

 CEA is magnificently spread up in 12.7acres of scenic paradise. The College has excellent infrastructure facilities, which includes an exhaustive central library, department libraries, well equipped laboratories and workshop. CEA also has a modern computer centre with high speed internet connection. The college's power requirement is catered by the 11kV substation by a stand by 75kW generator. Since the very first year of inception, CEA has achieved many a milestone both in academic and co-curricular pursuits. It has always provided an able platform for the students to turn into excellent engineers paving the path for a successful career.

CEA is located at Manakkala, 2.5 km away from the main Adoor Municipality on the side lines of Adoor-Karunagappally road. More than 50 buses plying along this route and so conveyance is very easy. The nearest railway stations are Karunagappally, Kayamkulam and Chengannur. The M.C. Road links it to Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and Kochi Airport.

 

Career Guidance & Placement Unit

The Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU) of College of Engineering, Adoor is a body of selected students, guided by the Placement Officer. Student members are specially selected to carry out the responsible working of the cell.
The CGPU has also been able to extend and offer its services to other professional colleges. Colleges who wish to participate in CEA placement processes are requested to send a request to cgpu@cea.ac.in

The CGPU aims at finding the appropriate placement for each candidate. It prepares students for recruitment by organizing lectures, seminars and presentations; and providing training through aptitude tests, group discussions and mock interviews. It is also a source of information on job opportunities and prospects of higher education. 
The CGPU keeps in touch with its alumni, especially those who were not placed while on campus and offers them opportunities until they are suitably placed.

 

Library

The college has a library well equipped with over 10,000 books related to various topics in various departments. The library also provides ready reference sources, handbooks, manuals, data sheets, CD-ROMS along with journals and the latest periodicals. There is also a digital CD Library which provides the students with the latest Linux distributions, videos and other resources.


Labouratory

The college has laboratories and workshops for the core academic departments as well as for the supporting departments. Electrical and mechanical workshops practicals for the 1st year students are provided according to the curriculum. The Internet lab is available with broadband connection.
