Architectural technology is a profession which demands drafting skills. Architectural technologists assist architects in design buildings and other construction projects. Technologists combine their technical skill with expertise in facility systems to review conceptual drawings and site plans.

Architectural technologists work for construction management, engineering and architecture firms. This article covers courses, eligibility criteria, entrance exam and job scope in the field of Architecture.

Eligibility Criteria for B. Voc in Architectural Technology

Students who have completed plus two are eligible to get admission in the B.Voc course.

Lateral Entries

• Those who have qualified SSLC and completed two years of BSS diploma course in Architectural Technology are eligible to get direct admission to the second year of B. Voc course (3^rd semester).

• Students who have completed plus two and two years of BSS diploma course in Architectural Technology are eligible to get direct admission to the third year of B. Voc course (5^th  semester).

Course Duration

• Three years for those who enter into the course generally.

• Candidates who completed BSS Diploma course are possible to get admission through lateral entry scheme (For further reference check Eligibility criteria section)

Job Duties

• One must be responsible for creating drawings, scaling sketches and ensuring that designs are compliant with government regulations.

• Conducting research on structural materials.

• Meeting with clients to ascertain design requirements and preparing project bids.

• examining HVAC, electrical and other building systems in order to ensure that safety and cost-effective requirements are met.

Skills required to pursue a career in Architecture

• Good drawing skills and ability to think creatively.

• Good observation skills and memory.

• Efficient communication skills are also essential for an architect to understand the design requirement of clients.

• Students are also required to possess some IT skills in order to operate software used for architecture and designing.
