Eligibility Criteria for B. Voc in Bio – Tech Lab Technology

  • Students who have completed plus two are eligible to get admission in the B. Voc in Bio – Tech Lab Technology course generally.

  • Students who have qualified SSLC and completed one year of BSS Diploma in Bio-Tech Lab Technology are eligible to get admission in first year of the B. Voc in Bio – Tech Lab Technology course. (first semester).

  • Students who have completed Plus two and one year BSS Diploma in Bio-Tech Lab Technology are eligible to get direct admission to the second year of the B. Voc in Bio – Tech Lab Technology course. (third semester).

 

Course Duration

  • Three years for those who enter into the course generally.

  • Candidates who have completed relevant and equivalent course are possible to get admission through lateral entry scheme (For further reference check Eligibility criteria section).

 

Job Duties

  • Create, conduct and monitor experiments using live organisms or bimolecular processes in a laboratory setting to solve problems, improve processes and develop new products

  • Use scientific knowledge to follow different methodologies to achieve results

  • Perform data analysis on your experiments and interpret findings to support scientific investigations

  • Record and disseminate results accurately in reports and via presentations

  • Set up, maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment and computers

  • Work independently and collaboratively with other scientists

  • Work to health, safety and environmental regulations and meet quality standards

  • Keep up to date with new advances in biotechnology to develop new techniques, products or practices.

  • Create and Run Student Labs/ Maintain Lab Materials

  • Write/edit lab protocols for students

  • Troubleshoot problems with lab protocols/equipment

  • Create and evaluate new lab protocols as needed

  • Prepare and run quality control on culture media and reagents.

  • Set up, and dismantle equipment and regents for student lab experiments.

  • Manage student laboratories plus prep area

  • Complete student lab experiments when students are unable to finish during the class period.

  • Provide an instructional program to meet the needs of all students, including students with disabilities.

  • Refer students for appropriate specialized support as needed.

  • Plan for and utilize instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques that motivate and enable each student to achieve the applicable learning objectives.

  • Provide input when necessary to student Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

  • Take all necessary and safety precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, HCPSS policy and administrative regulation

  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

  • Develop reasonable rules of classroom behaviour and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

  • Communicate standards, achievements and areas for improvement to students and parents. Provide timely and meaningful feedback to parents and students

  • Train teachers in lab techniques and lab safety

  • Maintain and inventory all lab equipment and chemicals

  • Implement the HCPSS Science Safety and Chemical Hygiene Plan

  • Order, receive (check in), and approve payment for all lab equipment/reagents/supplies

  • Maintain records of all expenditures.

  • Reconcile monthly purchase card statements.
