College of Engineering Kallooppara (CEK), located in the Sylvan hills of Pathanamthitta district, is one of the premier institutions among the new generation Engineering colleges of South India. Ever since its inception under the aegis of the Institute of Human Resources Development(IHRD - Established by Govt. of Kerala) the college has already made its presence felt in the technical horizon of the State. The College is affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and approved by All India Council for Technical Education(AICTE).. The college started its functioning from 1999 onwards. From the operational perspective the college is the 5th college of IHRD established in Kerala after Model Engineering College , College of Engineering Chengannur , College of Engineering, Adoor and College of Engineering Karunagappally The permanent affiliation obtained in the year 2004 . The college Considered as the 6th Engineering College of IHRD. (Based on permanent affiliation dates ) after Model Engineering College , College of Engineering Chengannur , College of Engineering Adoor , College of Engineering Karunagappally and College of Engineering Poonjar. The college has one of the best academic performances among the colleges associated with CUSAT. The college provides excellent campus placement opportunity for students.

The institution is managed by Institute of Human Resources Development(IHRD), an Educational Agency fully owned and controlled by Government of Kerala. The management of the institution is vested with the Governing body and Executive committee headed by the Hon’ble Minister for Education, Government of Kerala. The Chief Secretary of the state is the Vice Chairman of the governing body and Principal Secretary to Government, Higher Education Department is the Vice Chairman of Executive committee. The constitution of the Executive Committee and Governing body is decided by the Government vide separate government orders.

Admissions

B.Tech

College of Engineering Kallooppara offers three under graduate programs (B. Tech) of 4 years duration.
NO. OF SEATS(INTAKE)    : 60 PER YEAR FOR EACH COURSE(CS/EC/EE)
MERIT QUOTA                     : 30 SEATS(50%)
MANAGEMENT QUOTA    : 27 SEATS(45%)
NRI QUOTA                           : 3 SEATS(5%)

** In addition to this 3 seats in each branch are reserved for Tuition Fee Waiver (TFW) Scheme as per AICTE directions (Allotment done by    Commissioner for Entrance examinations).

COLLEGE CODE : PTA (For allotment of seats under merit and management quota by Commissioner for Entrance Examinations)

ELIGIBILITY : Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala , or Examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics seperately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission.

AGE : Applicant should complete 17 years of age as on 31-12-2016. No relaxation in the minimum age will be allowed. There is no upper age limit.

MODE OF ADMISSION & FEES  : Out of the 180 seats (60 Per Course), 50% of the seats (90 seats-30 per course) are merit seats(Govt. Fees seats - Fees decided by the Government) filled by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala from the ranklist prepared from Common Entrance Test conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations.

45% seats are Management Quota seats (Full fees seats- fees decided by fee regulatory committee appointed by Government) filled by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Kerala from ranklist prepared from Common Entrance Test conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance examinations.

The remaining 5% seats are NRI(Non-Resident Indian)seats filled by the College from the ranklist prepared on the basis of Higher Secondary Marks (Selection criteria prescribed by Goverment/IHRD) from applications invited through newspaper columns.

 

M.Tech

The students appearing in the rank list prepared by the Directorate of Technical Education Kerala based on the application submitted online at http://www.dtekerala.gov.in/ only will be eligible for admission to the merit seats. Eligible students will have to submit separate applications at College of Engineering Kallooppara as per time schedule and format which will be uploaded at www.cek.ac.in or www.ihrd.ac.in.

 

Facilities

 

CEK is the perfect launch pad for a perfect professional. A BTech Degree from CEK involves a lot more than gaining a detailed knowledge on the subject. There are ample facilities for the students to develop a wide range of skills and to get hands on experience.

 

Central Library

Central Library has a good collection of books on Science & Technology, Engineering, Management, Technical Communication, Humanities and Literature. A number of periodicals, both technical and general are subscribed. The central library is fully computerised and has internet facilities. Also there are seperate Department Libraries which have specialized collection on each subject and are accessible to the students and staff of respective departments. It is linked with the Digital Library of AICTE-INDEST consortium.

 

Labs & Workshops

The Labs and Workshops of CEK are well maintained and state of the art ones. They include Computer Lab, Electronics Lab, Electrical Lab and Mechanical Lab. The infrastructure in these labs are adequate enough to prepare the students to deal with modern technologies through regular lab sessions under the supervision of experienced and highly qualified Tchnical staff and skilled assistants.

 

Transportation

Though the college is well connected to major towns via public transport system during peak hours, the college has its own transporation facilities to Chengannur, Thiruvalla, Changanacherry, Pathanamthitta, Kozhencherry, Vennikulam and Mallappally.

 

Canteen

Refreshments are available at the college canteen at affordable rates. Adequate seating facilities are provided to accomodate students and staff even during peak time.

 

Career Guidance and Placement Unit (CGPU)

Career Guidance and Placement Unit Of College of Engineering,Kallooppara consists of a group of active students and head in charge.CGPU is one of the most efficient and effective department in the college.The main motive of CGPU is to recruite each and every student of the college to reputed companies and industries.

Main emphasis is given on student personality development and communication skills.For this purpose well-conducted and student friendly classes and seminars are being held by highly experienced and qualified trainers.

ACTIVITIES:

CGPU conducts regular meetings,elaborated Group Discussions,mock interviews,aptitude tests that makes the students of CEK well-informed and distinguishes them from other people in a crowd so that they can out-perform on any platform they are given.
    An active Debate and Quiz club is held under the joint leadership of college senate and CGPU.
    Through regular career guidance classes,students are helped by experienced trainers so that they can opt for higher studies or careers according to their field of interests.
