Bachelor of Science in Agriculture is an undergraduate Agriculture Science and Technology course. Agriculture is the classifications name for the farming industry. It refers to the production of goods through the growing of plants and fungi and the raising of domesticated animals. The study of agriculture is known as agricultural science. The related practice of gardening is studied in horticulture. The duration of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture is four years. The course offered by different departments (theoretical and practical) is taught to the students on credit basis. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture also includes on farm RAWE (Rural Agriculture Work Experience) training and hands on experimental developing confidence in the graduating students of Agriculture.
How is B.Sc. Agriculture Course Beneficial?
• A lot of career opportunities are in the agricultural industries from farmer to consumer, plough to plate as agriculture being the lucrative industry in India and at the global level.
• They can seek employment in Central and State Government ministries and departments; Agricultural finance corporation research institutions; nationalized banks and rural banks; Krishi Vigyan Kendras; Agro - Industry Sector; Agricultural universities and various agricultural service organizations.
• They can also be employed as agricultural managers/inspectors in farm related organisations, agro-industries, food-processing unit, dairy fields, NGO's and breeding centres.
• They can also set up their own business in primary economic sector such as farming, plantations, fisheries, mining, cattle rearing, poultry farming etc.
Eligibility
• The minimum qualification required to apply for B.Sc. in agriculture is 50-60% (depends on institute to institute) in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
• Admission criterion is an entrance test conducted by various institutes which differs from place to place.
