Bachelor of Science in Ophthalmic Techniques is an undergraduate Ophthalmology course. Ophthalmic Techniques deal with the medical specialty which diagnoses and treats the diseases and disorders of eye by using modern technologies. The duration of B.Sc. in Ophthalmic Techniques is generally three academic years but it may be less or more than this from place to place and may be provided on part time basis by certain institutes. The syllabus for the course is divided into three phases plus some practical. The degree course is an important and career orienting one that opens a lot scopes after its completion.
How is B.Sc. Ophthalmic Techniques Course Beneficial?
• This degree course enables the students to go for various ophthalmic jobs and they can establish an independent practice by starting their own eye clinic, optical shop, lens manufacturing unit etc.
• The degree course offers good base for higher degree programs in respective subjects, e.g. M.Sc. and M.Phil. etc.
• Those who have good academic records can go for further research work.
• They can take the job of an assistant with Optician showrooms, Eye doctors, Contact Lens and Ophthalmic lens industry, hospital Eye departments etc.
• They can also seek employment with any multinational organization dealing with eye care products as professional services executives.
Eligibility
• The candidates should complete their 10+2 or its equivalent exam with subject Biology as one of the subjects besides Physics and Chemistry in Science stream.
• The marks of admission for this course may vary from college to college and in many colleges it conducts own entrance exams and percentage of 12th class for the admission of students.
