Bachelor of Science in Physiology is an undergraduate Physiology course. Physiology is the study of the scientific methods to determine how organisms, organ systems, organs, cells and bio-molecules carry out the chemical or physical function that they have in a living system. In other words, B.Sc. (Physiology) degree course is the study of the branch of biological sciences which deals with the functioning of organisms. The course explores the processes that regulate life. The degree course covers the study of some of the topics such as Blood and Body Fluid, Nerve Muscle Physiology, Gastrointestinal System, Endocrinology, Sensory Mechanism, etc. The duration of the course is three years and it is an important course one that provides many career opportunities.
How is B.Sc. Physiology Course Beneficial?
• B.Sc. (Physiology) degree serves as a basis for further higher studies in this field such as M.Sc., Ph.D. and M.Phil. Degree in Physiology, the successful completion of which makes one eligible for the post of a lecturer in any university/college as well as for an observer or a scientist.
• B.Sc. (Physiology) degree graduates have the options of pursuing a career in various specializations of Physiology such as in Regulatory Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, Neurobiology, etc.
• They can go for services like management consultancies; law and accountancy firms; retail companies; banks and other financial institutions.
Eligibility
• The basic eligibility criterion for pursuing B.Sc. (Physiology) degree is qualifying 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as subjects studied at intermediate level. Some reputed colleges and institutes demand a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 as qualifying criteria to secure admission in this degree course.
• Some of the very reputed colleges and institutes also conduct entrance examination to get admission to their B.Sc. (Physiology) degree course. Selection to the degree course in these colleges is based on marks secured in the final merit i.e. total marks aggregated in the final exams of 10+2 and the entrance exam.
