Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering (SCTCE) is a state-government-sponsored engineering college in Pappananmcode, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. SCT College of Engineering  started functioning from the academic year 1995, under the University of Kerala. SCT College of Engineering is one of the few colleges in the state of Kerala having ISO 9001-2000 certification. The Institution is one among the top seven Engineering colleges in the state selected by Central Government for grants under World Bank funded TEQIP(First Phase) along with institutions like NIT and CET . 

There has been a governing body decision to start an undergraduate program in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and graduate programs in six areas. The AICTE sanctioned M.Tech degree program in Machine Design by Mechanical Engineering Department started in 2009 with a single batch of students. AICTE also approved M.Tech degree program for Computer Science in 2010 with a single batch of students. AICTE has sanctioned M.Tech degree program in Signal Processing by Electronics and Communication Engineering Department in 2011 with a single batch of students. A new M.Tech course on Vehicle Design and Road safety will be started shortly after getting AICTE approval.
The TEQIP program of the government of India has brought changes in the quality of training offered by the college with the coming up of a Central Computing facility and digital library.tc. The college conducts community development programs related to skill development and women empowerment.

 

 

Programs


Sree Chitra Thirunal College of Engineering currently offers UG and PG Programmes. The College offers six B.Tech. courses in the streams of Mechanical Engineering (ME), Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Except ECE branch each with an intake of 60 regular students and six lateral entry students per year.
SCTCE, Trivandrum offers three M.Tech. courses in Mechanical Engineering (ME) with specialization in Machine Design, M.Tech in computer Science and Electronics and Communication (ECE) with specialization in Signal Processing with an annual intake of 18 students per stream.
The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala and APJ Abdul_Kalam Technological University follows its curricula and syllabi.

Admissions

 

The admission procedure and fee structure of SCT College of Engineering is decided by the government of Kerala. The details are given in the admission prospectus published by Kerala State Entrance Commissioner and can be found under Government self-financing colleges category. A percentage of seats are reserved for the dependents of KSRTC employees and a percentage of seats are reserved for the children of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs). All admissions except under the NRI quota are based on the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala.

 

Facilities

 

The college is located at Pappanamcode 4 km from Trivandrum Central Railway Station and KSRTC central bus stand at Thampanoor. It is 15 km from Trivandrum International Airport. The college is fully equipped with all of the infrastructure facilities including computing facilities with more than 300 machines with Internet facilities and all standard software, full fledged workshops and other laboratories. The staff includes eminent professors with more than 30 years of teaching and research experience and a team of highly motivated and dedicated teachers including senior professors deputed from other government colleges. The college central library is equipped with all modern computing facilities and houses handpicked collection of most recent titles in engineering subjects, various national and international journals etc. Every care is taken to motivate the students in all academic and extracurricular activities. A well established placement wing provide 100% placement to eligible students in leadng national and multintional companies. College appilied for accreditation by NBA

 

Central Computing Facility (CCF)

 

The Centre administers the computational and network services and extends programming advice for processing the research and development problems of the Institute. The Centre is equipped with HP Blade Server and 48 workstations connected over a switched fast Ethernet. A fiber optic network connects the various departments with the CCF. It is an approved facilitation centre by Govt. of Kerala for providing online registration facilities for candidates in the CEE.CCF hosts an intranet server for attendance updation of students and all other academic related data of the college. The college computing facilities are also used for various online tests by external agencies like RRB, Postal Departments etc. Online Journals like IEEE, Science Direct, ASME, ACM etc available in CCF. The CCF is open 9.30 am to 7.00 pm and caters the needs of students from all branches.

 

 Library

 

SCTCE Library started functioning from 1996 to meet the study, teaching and research needs of the students, faculty and staff of this college.
The collection of the Library currently comprises of more than 30,000 books in Engineering   and interdisciplinary areas of Sciences.  Reference  books  such as encyclopedia,dictionaries,laboratory manuals ,projects and general reading books are also available  in the library.
The Library’s extensive Print national & international journals ; Electronic resources  like  IEEE, ASME,SPRINGER EEC, ELSEVIER ENGINEERING+COMPUTERSCINCE, MCGRAW HILL –GENERAL ENGG, J-Gate( jet) and ASTM that  include  databases, Full text databases, Journals , Images and Digital maps help the  college community.Online Public Access Catalogue available in fecilility/library link of SCTCE website sctce.ac.in
