College of Engineering, Kottarakkara (CEKRA), is one amoung the leading an engineering institutes in the state of Kerala, India since its venture in 2004. The institution is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to CUSAT. It is under the management of IHRD (Institute of Human Resources Development),a Kerala Government undertaking. Faculty of international repute belonging to various sciences and engineering streams is engaged in teaching, research and consultancy activities. The Institute is a self – contained beautiful, green residential campus of about 25 acre with all the modern amenities. The college is located near Navodaya school and ETC at Thrikkannamangal (3 km from Kottarakkara KSRTC bus stand and 2 km away from railway station), Kottarakkara is famous as the birthplace of Kathakali.

Admissions

 

The institute admits students based on the Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination, KEAM conducted by the Office of the Commissioner of Entrance Exams run by the Government of Kerala.

For admission to any of the engineering courses offered by the college candidates must  pass in the Higher Secondary Examination of the Department of Higher Secondary Education, Vocational Higher Secondary Examination of Department of Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala or examinations recognised equivalent thereto,with 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admission under Management Quota with relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

 

Facilities

 

CEKRA college is situated in an area full of trees and hence free from pollution. Institute has one to one relationship among teachers and students. Despite being a small college,It has been producing excellent results in University Examinations.

The college has easy access from Kottarakara railway station and KSRTC/Private bus stand Kottarakara. Even though college provides bus facility to students from various parts of Kollam district to reach college on time.

Hostel

 

Hostels for boys and girls with all amneties have been provided by the college. The girls hostel is located 200 mtrs apart from college and boys hostel is at 1 km distance. Both the hostels have spacious rooms and Mess halls. Separate facilities for studying is provided in both the hostels.

Health Club

 

A health club is a place which houses exercise equipment for the purpose of physical exercise. ‘A Healthy mind in a Healthy body’ – so goes the adage. The Health Club is home to an ultra modern gymnasium, catering to the needs of the fitness enthusiasts. The staff and students are free to use the gymnasium, after class hours under the tutelage of professional trainers.

Sufficient area is available in the campus for the students to engage in games and sports activities. Football & cricket ground, Chess Along with indoor facilities for table tennis and badminton are available.
