During a global meeting, diplomats from across the globe unanimously identified the need for security in the garment industry. Following a discussion over the issue, Bangladesh decided to set up a Remediation Co-ordination cell to oversee the post inspection safety activities inside the garment industry. After the collapse of eight-storied Rana Plaza building in 2013, a need to identify safety loopholes become the agenda for various global institutions and this in turn has paved ways for safety inspections at various levels.
As per the official statement from the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Remediation cell will come into force by 2018 and thereby will ensure standard, safety and security in the flourishing garment sector.
