South East Central Railway (SECR) Act Apprentice - Job Role & Responsibilities

The Act Apprentices in SECR undergo training under the Apprentices Act, 1961, which is aimed at providing practical knowledge and skill development in various railway trades. These apprentices work in different railway workshops and departments for a fixed training period.

 Job Role: Act Apprentice

Act Apprentices are trainees who are selected for on-the-job training in different trades within railway workshops and divisions like Bilaspur, Raipur, and Nagpur. Their role is to learn and gain hands-on experience in their respective trade under the supervision of senior railway staff.

Responsibilities of SECR Act Apprentices

  1. Learning Technical Skills
    • Undergo practical training in the assigned trade (e.g., fitter, electrician, welder, etc.).
    • Gain knowledge about railway maintenance, repair, and production work.
  2. Assisting Senior Technicians
    • Support railway staff in repairing and maintaining railway components.
    • Observe and assist in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems.
  3. Workshop & Field Work

Training Duration & Stipend

  • Training Period: Usually 1 year (as per trade requirements).
  • Stipend: Paid as per Apprenticeship Rules (varies by government guidelines).

 Career Opportunities After Apprenticeship

  • The apprenticeship does not guarantee a permanent job in railways.
