Job Role of SAS Officer (NIT Goa)

The SAS Officer plays a crucial role in managing and promoting student activities and sports within the institution. This includes planning, coordinating, and executing various student programs, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and sports events.

Key Responsibilities of SAS Officer

Command and Leadership
1. Leading Special Operations: Plan, execute, and lead special operations, including counter-terrorism,  direct action, and reconnaissance.
2. Commanding SAS Troops: Command and lead SAS troops in various operational environments.
3. Mentoring and Training: Mentor and train junior officers and soldiers in SAS tactics, techniques and      procedures.

Operations and Planning
1. Operational Planning: Plan and coordinate special operations, including mission planning, risk              assessment, and contingency planning.
2. Intelligence Gathering: Gather, analyze, and disseminate intelligence to support SAS operations.
3. Conducting Reconnaissance: Conduct reconnaissance and surveillance to gather information and          support SAS operations.

Tactics and Techniques
1. Specialized Skills: Utilize specialized skills, such as parachuting, combat diving, and languages.
2. Unconventional Warfare: Conduct unconventional warfare, including guerrilla warfare and sabotage.
3. Counter-Terrorism: Conduct counter-terrorism operations, including hostage rescue and counter-        proliferation.

Logistics and Administration
1. Logistical Planning: Plan and coordinate logistical support for SAS operations.
2. Administrative Tasks: Perform administrative tasks, including personnel management, budgeting,          and reporting.
3. Equipment Maintenance: Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of SAS equipment and vehicles.

Other Responsibilities
1. Interagency Coordination: Coordinate with other military units, government agencies, and                    international partners.
2. Security and Risk Management: Manage security and risk for SAS operations.
3. Professional Development: Pursue professional development and training to maintain SAS skills            knowledge.
