The Senior Assistant Engineer position at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is typically open for Ex-Servicemen from the Indian Armed Forces (Navy, Air Force, Army) with experience in maintenance, operation, and servicing of defense-related electronic systems.
Job Role
As a Senior Assistant Engineer, you will be responsible for:
 Maintenance & Servicing: Overseeing maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting of electronic and mechanical systems used in defense applications.
Field Support: Providing on-site support for radar, communication, electronic warfare, or surveillance systems.
 Testing & Calibration: Conducting inspections, functional checks, and calibration of defense equipment to ensure optimal performance.
 Installation & Commissioning: Assisting in setting up and deploying military-grade electronic systems at client locations.
 Technical Documentation: Maintaining records of system performance, failures, and repairs. Preparing maintenance manuals and reports.
 Liaison with Defense Forces: Coordinating with defense personnel for technical support, training, and troubleshooting.
 Training & Supervision: Providing training to junior engineers and defense personnel on equipment handling and maintenance procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Ensure timely maintenance & troubleshooting of assigned defense electronic systems.
 Work on AMC (Annual Maintenance Contracts) and field servicing for defense clients.
 Conduct periodic inspections and ensure operational readiness of electronic and mechanical equipment.
 Provide technical inputs for system upgrades and improvements.
 Support the production team in quality checks, testing, and modifications.
 Travel to customer sites (defense establishments, airbases, naval docks, etc.) for support and service.

 Work Location & Nature of Work

• Work may involve onsite deployment at defense installations, BEL service centers, or manufacturing units.
• Frequent travel to military bases and field locations may be required.
• The role demands hands-on experience with electronic systems, networking, and mechanical components.

 Skills & Experience Required

 Experience: Typically, 10+ years of experience in Indian Armed Forces in technical/maintenance roles.
 Skills:
 Strong knowledge of electronics, communication, and radar systems.
 Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting & maintenance.
 Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams & schematics.
 Experience in defense-grade electronic systems preferred.
 Good team coordination & leadership skills.
