Eligibility Criteria

1. Age Limit (as of January 1, 2025)

  • Stream 1: 21–32 years (Born between January 2, 1993, and January 1, 2004)
  • Stream 2: 21–40 years (Born between January 2, 1985, and January 1, 2004)
  • Stream 3: Maximum 50 years

Age Relaxations:

  • SC/ST: +5 years | OBC: +3 years
  • Differently Abled: Up to 15 years (vision/hearing/speech) or 10 years (orthopedic)
  • Ex-servicemen/Widows: As per government norms

2. Educational Qualification

  • All Streams: Bachelor’s degree (including professional courses) from a recognized university.
  • Stream 2: Must be a full member/approved probationer in a Kerala Govt. department (non-gazetted).
  • Stream 3: Must hold a 1st gazetted post or equivalent in departments listed under KAS Special Rules 2018.

KAS Exam Pattern 2025

Preliminary Exam (Screening)

  • Paper I: General Studies-I (100 marks, 1.5 hours).
  • Paper II:
    • Part 1: General Studies-II (50 marks).
    • Part 2: Regional Language (Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada – 30 marks).
    • Part 3: English (20 marks).

Main Exam (Descriptive)

  • Papers: General Studies I, II, III (100 marks each, 2 hours).
  • Interview: 45 marks.
