Job Role of a Part Time Correspondent (PTC)
A PTC is a district-level journalist hired by Akashvani to cover local news and stories for radio broadcasts, especially focusing on public welfare and government initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. News Gathering & Reporting
- Collect and report local news, events, and incidents from the assigned district (Dehradun).
- Cover government schemes, developmental activities, civic issues, and cultural/social events relevant to AIR’s audience.
2. Audio Content Creation
- Record audio reports, interviews, public bytes, and features.
- Submit radio-ready content for broadcast in bulletins and special programs.
3. Daily/Weekly Submissions
- Provide regular news updates, usually 1–2 reports daily depending on importance.
- Submit reports in Hindi or English, or both (as required).
4. Verification & Fact-Checking
- Ensure accuracy and authenticity of reports.
- Follow ethical journalism practices—avoid sensationalism or bias.
5. Liaison Work
- Coordinate with the News Editor/Station Head of Akashvani Dehradun.
- Be available on call for urgent coverage (natural disasters, elections, etc.).
6. Coverage of Flagship Schemes
- Give special attention to government programs like Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, etc., and their implementation at the grassroots level.
