Wool Marketing Development Officer   01

Job Role of WMDO

The Wool Marketing Development Officer plays a key role in enhancing the marketing, processing, and distribution of wool across India. The position focuses on promoting wool-based industries, improving market access for wool growers, and facilitating development schemes under the CWDB.

Key Responsibilities

1. Wool Marketing Promotion

  • Assist in developing strategies for improving wool marketing infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders (wool producers, traders, cooperatives, exporters).
  • Support creation of marketing linkages between wool growers and buyers.
  • Help establish wool collection, grading, and sale centers.

2. Policy Implementation

  • Implement schemes related to wool marketing and infrastructure under CWDB.
  • Monitor performance and progress of state-level and regional wool projects.
  • Ensure effective use of funds and resources in line with government policy.

3. Market Research & Development

  • Conduct studies on wool market trends, prices, demand, and export potential.
  • Provide recommendations for improving domestic and international market access.
  • Compile and maintain data on wool production, consumption, and marketing channels.

4. Capacity Building & Training

  • Organize training and awareness programs for wool growers, traders, and processors.
  • Promote adoption of modern marketing techniques, grading systems, and branding.

5. Coordination with Agencies

  • Liaise with state governments, cooperative societies, NGOs, and private sector stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with wool boards, research institutions, and textile councils for sector development.

6. Monitoring and Reporting

  • Maintain records and submit reports to the CWDB on marketing programs and outcomes.
  • Conduct field visits and inspections to assess scheme implementation and compliance.

Skills & Knowledge Required

  • Knowledge of the wool/textile sector, marketing strategies, and government schemes.
  • Analytical and research skills for market assessment.
  • Communication skills to coordinate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic project management and reporting ability.

 Work Environment

  • Mix of office work and field assignments (especially in wool-producing regions like Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, J&K, Uttarakhand, etc.).
  • Travel may be required for inspections, training programs, and stakeholder meetings.
