Job Role: Junior Engineer (Civil)

Department: Water Resources Department, Government of Assam​

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning, designing, and supervising civil engineering projects such as roads, bridges, and buildings.

• Prepare project estimates and technical reports.

• Monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.

• Coordinate with contractors and other stakeholders to ensure timely project completion.

• Maintain records and documentation related to engineering projects.​

Eligibility Criteria:

• Three-year Diploma in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering & Planning, or Construction Technology from an AICTE-recognized institution.

• Diplomas obtained through distance learning or part-time courses are not accepted.

• Age between 18 and 40 years as of January 1, 2025, with age relaxations applicable as per government norms.​

Salary Structure:

• Pay Band: ₹14,000 – ₹70,000 per month.

• Grade Pay: ₹8,700.

• Additional allowances and benefits as per Assam government regulations.​

Career Progression:

• Junior Engineers can be promoted to Assistant Engineer (AE), then to Executive Engineer, and eventually to higher administrative roles like Superintending Engineer and Chief Engineer. Promotions are based on departmental exams, performance appraisals, and years of service. ​
