Job Role of a PLV

A Para Legal Volunteer acts as a bridge between the common public and the legal system. They work under the guidance of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to spread legal awareness and help marginalized sections access justice.

 Key Responsibilities

1. Legal Awareness

  • Educate people about their legal rights and entitlements.
  • Conduct legal literacy camps in villages, schools, panchayats, and slums.
  • Disseminate information about free legal aid services.

2. Assistance in Legal Aid Clinics

  • Support operations of legal aid clinics in rural and urban areas.
  • Help lawyers and officers present during legal awareness programs.

3. Identifying Beneficiaries

  • Identify people in need of legal assistance, especially the weaker sections, such as:
    • Women and children
    • SC/ST community members
    • Victims of domestic violence or trafficking
