Job Role & Responsibilities of an Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)

As an ALP, you will play a crucial role in train operations by assisting the Loco Pilot (train driver) to ensure the safe and efficient running of trains. Key responsibilities include:​

• Assisting the Loco Pilot: Following instructions from the Loco Pilot to manage train operations effectively.

• Locomotive Maintenance: Fine-tuning and performing minor repairs on the locomotive to ensure optimal performance.

• Signal Observation: Observing and promptly communicating signal aspects to the Loco Pilot.

• Safety Checks: Regularly inspecting the locomotive for any issues and reporting defects to ensure safety .

• Track Monitoring: Identifying and reporting any track anomalies to prevent accidents .​

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the ALP position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: Passed Matriculation (10th) along with an ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT in relevant trades, or possess a Diploma/Degree in Engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Automobile Engineering .

Selection Process
