 Job Role & Responsibilities

Hostel Superintendents in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are entrusted with the comprehensive management of student hostels, ensuring a safe, disciplined, and nurturing residential environment. Key responsibilities include:​

• Student Welfare: Overseeing the well-being of students, ensuring their safety, health, and discipline within the hostel premises.​

• Administrative Duties: Maintaining records related to hostel inventory, student attendance, and daily activities.​

• Coordination: Collaborating with teaching and non-teaching staff to organize co-curricular and extracurricular activities.​

• Facility Management: Ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and proper maintenance of hostel facilities.​

• Emergency Handling: Being prepared to address emergencies and unforeseen situations promptly.​

• Communication: Liaising with parents/guardians regarding student matters when necessary.​

• Compliance: Adhering to the rules and regulations set by NVS and ensuring students do the same.​

It is mandatory for Hostel Superintendents to reside within the Vidyalaya campus to effectively perform residential school duties. ​

 Eligibility Criteria

• Age Limit: Applicants must be between 35 and 62 years of age as of June 1, 2025.​

• Educational Qualification: A graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university.​

• Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Pay Level 5 or above of the 7th CPC (or equivalent) in a recognized residential school.

  • Alternatively, 7 years of experience with a consolidated pay not less than ₹29,200 per month in a recognized residential school.

  • Ex-defense personnel with a maximum of 5 years of experience in Pay Level 5 or above of the 7th CPC are also eligible.

  • Candidates with at least 3 years of experience working in JNVs are preferred.​

• Health & Fitness: Candidates must meet the health and fitness standards as per NVS norms applicable for regular appointments.​

• Marital Status: Both male and female candidates without encumbrances are eligible to apply.​

Remuneration & Accommodation

• Salary: A fixed monthly remuneration of ₹35,750.​

• Accommodation: Shared single accommodation within the JNV campus will be provided.​
