Available Roles & Their Responsibilities

1. Anganwadi Worker (AWW) / Mini Worker/Teacher

  • Pre-school education: Lead non-formal early education for children aged 3–6 years — teaching foundational literacy, numeracy, art, and storytelling to prepare them for primary school.

  • Nutrition services: Distribute take-home rations and serve mid-day meals to children, pregnant and lactating women; monitor child growth regularly through weight checks.

  • Health and immunization: Facilitate immunization through coordination with health services, maintain health check-up records, and assist in health camps.

  • Awareness and counseling: Conduct community outreach on nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, breastfeeding, family planning; advise parents during home visits.

  • Home visits: Regularly visit households to monitor child and maternal well-being, ensure sanitation, and support malnourished or vulnerable families.

  • Record-keeping & reporting: Maintain detailed registers on attendance, health, immunization, rations; submit monthly/quarterly reports to supervisors.

  • Implementation of schemes: Facilitate schemes like JSY and PMMVY, identifying beneficiaries and helping with registrations.

2. Anganwadi Helper (AWH)

  • Support day-to-day center activities: Assist the AWW in meal preparation and serving, organizing activities, maintaining cleanliness, and database entry.

3. Supervisor

  • Oversee multiple centers: Ensure program quality across Anganwadi centers in a defined area.

  • Liaison role: Coordinate closely with the WCD Department, health workers, and local administration.
