Qualification

  • Possess a bachelor's degree with Statistics or Mathematical Statistics or Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics or Mathematics as Principal Subject; obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or State Act in India;
  • or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared to be deemed as University under section-3 of the University Grant Commission Act, 1956;
  • possess the basic knowledge of computer application on the lines of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967;
  • possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or both.

 Job Role & Key Responsibilities

  • Data Collection & Compilation
    Gather, compile, and tabulate primary and secondary statistical data from various sources.

  • Data Presentation & Visualization
    Prepare frequency distributions, diagrams, charts, and tables for state-level statistical analysis.

  • Statistical Measures & Analysis
    Calculate measures like mean, median, mode, variance, standard deviation, skewness, percentile, etc.

  • Probability & Distributions
    Apply probability concepts and distributions (Binomial, Poisson, Normal) in data analysis.

  • Sampling & Testing Methodologies
    Implement sampling techniques and conduct hypothesis testing (ANOVA, parametric/non-parametric tests).

  • Advanced Statistical Techniques
    Work with index numbers, correlation/regression, time-series analysis, and vital statistics (birth/death rates).

  • Report Preparation & Interpretation
    Compile comprehensive technical reports and interpret findings for policy or administrative use.

  • Compliance & Coordination
    Adhere to data quality standards, maintain documentation, collaborate with government departments, and contribute to periodic state statistical reports.

 Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Educational Background
    Bachelor’s or Master’s in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Mathematical Statistics, Economics (with statistics major), Econometrics, Mathematics, Commerce Statistics, Applied Math, or Advanced Statistics.

  • Computer Proficiency
    Must have passed a certified computer skills test as per Gujarat Civil Service Computer Efficiency Rules – 2006.
    Language Skills
    Adequate proficiency in Gujarati or Hindi (or both).

  • Age Requirement
    Between 18 and 37 years (with permissible age relaxation per government rules).

Selection Process & Compensation

  • Selection Procedure:
    MCQ-based online written examination (OMR/CBRT format), followed by document verification.
    Exam duration: 3 hours; total marks: 210 (Part A: 60, Part B: 150); negative marking for wrong answers (≈0.25–0.30 marks).

  • Salary & Probation:
    Fixed pay of ₹40,800 per month (during the 5‑year probation period), with career progression based on service norms.

 On‑Job Functions

  • Execute surveys and statistical projects (e.g. agriculture, population, economics).

  • Process data through statistical software/packages.

  • Present analytical results to senior officials.

  • Support policy-making with statistical insights.

  • Ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and proper documentation.
