Position Type: Community Health Volunteer (Part-time, Honorarium-based)
Key Responsibilities:
- Community Mobilization:
- Motivate women and families to access healthcare services including antenatal care, institutional deliveries, immunization, and family planning.
- Facilitate participation in health campaigns and awareness programs.
- Health Education and Counseling:
- Educate community members on hygiene, nutrition, maternal and child health, contraception, and disease prevention.
- Counsel mothers on breastfeeding, newborn care, and early childhood development.
- Linkage to Health Services:
- Act as a bridge between the community and primary health facilities (PHC/Sub-Centres).
- Assist in arranging transport and accompanying patients to health centers when required.
- Record Maintenance and Reporting:
- Maintain updated records of pregnant women, births, immunization, and referrals.
- Submit regular reports to the Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) or health supervisors.
- Basic First Aid and Support:
- Provide basic health services such as first aid, oral rehydration therapy, and distributing IFA/folic acid tablets.
- Support in identifying high-risk pregnancies and referring them promptly.
- Support for Government Health Programs:
- Participate in national health missions such as:
- Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY)
- National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP)
- Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign
- COVID-19 awareness and vaccination efforts (if applicable)
- Participate in national health missions such as:
- Home Visits and Outreach:
- Conduct regular home visits, especially to newborns, infants, and pregnant/lactating women.
- Track and follow-up on drop-outs from immunization and maternal care.
Important Attributes:
- Should be a resident of the same village/ward.
- Must have good communication skills and a willingness to serve the community.
- Preference is given to women, especially those from self-help groups or with a background in health/social work.
