​Qualification

• Rifleman/ Riflewoman General Duty (for Male and Female both): 10th class pass from a recognized Board
• Warrant Officer Radio Mechanic (for Male candidate only): 10th and 12th class pass from a recognized Board
• Warrant Officer Draftmans (for Male candidate only): 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized Board and three years Diploma in Architectural Assistantship from any recognized Polytechnic college or Institution.
• Havildar X - Ray Assistant (for Male candidate only): 10+2 pass with diploma in Radiology from a recognised Board or University.
• Rifleman Electrician Machanic Vehicle (for Male candidate only): 10th class passed from a recognized Board with Industrial Training Institute certificate in Motor Mechanic from a recognized Institute.
• Rifleman Vehicle Mechanic Fitter (for Male candidate only): 10th class passed with English, Mathematics and Science and Diploma/ITI certificate from recognized institute.
• Rifleman Plumber (for Male candidate only): 10th class pass from a recognised Board with Industrial Training Institute certificate in Plumber trade from a recognised Institute.
• Rifleman Safai (for Male candidates only): 10th class pass from a recognized Board

Salary

These Group B/C posts focus on trade-specific technical tasks critical to field and support operations:

• Radio Mechanic
  Maintain, repair, and troubleshoot military radio, TV, and communication systems.

• Lineman (Field)
  Install and maintain electrical lines and systems—crucial for camp setup and field infrastructure.

• Engineer Equipment Mechanic / Electrician Mechanic Vehicle / Recovery Vehicle Mechanic / Vehicle Mechanic Fitter
  Service and repair transport and recovery vehicles, ensuring operational readiness.

• Upholster
  Repair and maintain vehicle interiors and protective gear.

• Draughtsman
  Prepare technical drawings, layouts, or maps for construction and field operations.

• Plumber
  Handle water systems, sanitation, and related installations.

• Electrical and Mechanical (Engineers)
  Oversee and maintain mechanical and electrical systems at base and field locations.

• Operation Theatre Technician (OTT)
  Assist in military medical operations, preparing and maintaining surgical equipment.

• Pharmacist / X-Ray Assistant
  Support healthcare teams: medication dispensing and diagnostic imaging.

• Veterinary Field Assistant (VFA)
  Provide care for animals used by the Assam Rifles (e.g. mules, dogs).

• Safai (Sanitation Worker)
  Maintain hygiene standards across facilities and camps.

Each role includes duties according to the relevant trade—ensuring that field units have the necessary technical, medical, and logistical support to function effectively. Candidates are selected via Written Tests, Physical Standard Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), Trade Test, Document Verification, and Medical Examination 

Assam Rifles: Overall Roles & Responsibilities

The Assam Rifles is the oldest Central Armed Police Force, administered by the Ministry of Home Affairs and operationally controlled by the Indian Army .Their key duties include:

1. Border Security
   Guarding the 1,643 km Indo–Myanmar border to prevent infiltration and smuggling 

2. Counter-Insurgency & Internal Security
   Conducting operations in Northeast India and parts of Jammu & Kashmir to combat insurgent elements and maintain law and order 

3. Community Engagement & Civil Assistance
   Engaging in goodwill efforts—medical camps, education, infrastructure support in remote regions 

4. Support to Armed Forces
   Acting as a rear-area security force during conflicts, supporting Indian Army operations.

The technical/tradesman cadre supports all of these operations by ensuring infrastructure integrity, medical readiness, mobility, and logistical self-sufficiency.
