​Indian Air Force Recruitment 2025 Age Limit

• Minimum Age Limit: 17.5 Years
• Maximum Age Limit: 21 Years
• Candidates born between 02 July 2005 and 02 January 2009 (both dates inclusive) are eligible to apply
• In case, a candidate clears all the stages of the Selection Procedure, then the upper age limit as on date of enrolment should be 21 years.

Qualification

• Science Subjects. Candidates should have passed Intermediate/ 10+2/ Equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and English from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
• Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Automobile/ Computer Science/ Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from Central, State and UT recognised Polytechnic institute with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Diploma Course (or in Intermediate/ Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course).
• Passed Two years Vocational Course with non-vocational subject viz. Physics and Mathematics from Education Boards recognised by central, State and UT with 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course (or in Intermediate/ Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).
• Other than Science Subjects. Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/ subjects from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English.
• Passed two years Vocational Course from Education Boards recognised by Central, State and UT with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50 marks in English in Vocational Course (or in Intermediate/ Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course).

Mandatory Medical Standards

• Height: For Male Candidates - Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms
• For Female Candidates: Minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. For candidates belonging to North East or hilly regions of Uttarakhand, a lower minimum height of 147 cms will be accepted
• Weight: Weight should be proportionate to height and age as applicable for IAF
• Chest: For Male Candidates -The chest wall should be well proportioned and well developed. Minimum chest circumference should be 77 cms and the chest expansion should be atleast 05 cms
• For Female Candidates - The chest wall should be well proportioned and should be with minimum range of expansion of 05 cms.
• Hearing: Candidate should have normal hearing i.e. able to hear forced whisper from a distance of 6 meters by each ear separately
• Dental: Should have healthy gums, good set of teeth and minimum 14 dental points.
• General Health: Candidate should be fit for the Air Force, must conform to the medical standards and should be of normal anatomy without loss or deformity of any appendages.
• Gynaecological Examination (For female candidates) - The examination covers external genitalia, hernia orifices and the perineum, any evidence of stress urinary incontinence or genital prolapse outside introitus.
• Gender: Any candidate if found to have predominant characteristics of the opposite gender as evident on external physical examination, will be rejected as Unfit.
• Pregnancy (For female candidates) - Any candidate, if found pregnant shall be disqualified and her candidature will be rejected
• Visual standards: 6/12 each eye, correctable to 6/6 each eye

1. Technical & Non-Technical Roles

• Technical Trades:

  • Aircraft maintenance

  • Radar, weapons & avionics system operation and troubleshooting

  • Communication equipment repair

  • Ground support for air operations 

• Non-Technical Trades:

  • Administrative support (documentation, reporting)

  • Logistics and inventory handling

  • Human resource assistance

  • Ground duties including security and coordination 

2. Operational & Support Duties

• Airfield Security & Ground Combat Tasks: Maintain perimeter and secure operations around airbases. 

• Disaster Relief & Humanitarian Aid: Support national-level operations during emergencies and rescue missions. 

• Exercise & Mission Support: Facilitate air drills, exercises, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions. 

3. Specialised Streams

• Agniveervayu (Musician):

  • Performs with IAF bands, showcasing proficiency in singing/instruments.

  • Selection involves offline musical assessments and rally schedules. 

• Agniveervayu (Sports):

  • Recruited based on national-level sports achievements across varied disciplines (e.g. athletics, boxing, football, etc.).

  • Role includes representing IAF in sports events and maintaining fitness across activities. 

• Non‑Combatant (Hospitality & Housekeeping):

  • Serves in roles like cook, waiter, barber, tailor, washer, etc.

  • Duties revolve around daily support services like mess duties, sanitation, laundry, and upkeep. 

4. Training & Discipline

Every Agniveervayu undergoes:

• 6 months of basic military training

• Technical skill drills or specialised training (music/sports/ trades)

• Soft skills, leadership, fitness regimens

• Daily barracks life with structured routines and assessments 

5. Tenure, Benefits & Career Prospects

• Duration: 4-year contractual service under the Agnipath scheme 

• Working Conditions: Discipline-led schedules with shift duties, approx. 30 days annual leave, sick leave per medical norms
