Role Overview

The ASO is a Group B, Pay Level‑6 (₹35,400–₹1,12,400) administrative officer appointed on deputation (foreign service terms). They serve at the Head Office (New Delhi) or Regional/State offices like Bhopal or Bengaluru 

Key Responsibilities

While the official circular doesn’t list duties, typical ASO roles at UIDAI and similar central ministries include the following:

  • File & Records Management: Opening, monitoring, organizing, and maintaining official files in accordance with rules.

  • Drafting & Correspondence: Preparing official letters, reports, notes, and replies on policy, procedural, or administrative matters.

  • Coordination & Liaison: Acting as a bridge between various wings—legal, HR, finance, vigilance, procurement, e‑governance—to ensure seamless workflow.

  • Project Implementation Support: Assisting in tasks related to policy implementation and monitoring, including periodic progress reporting.

  • Procurement & Budget Support: Participating in procurement processes, budget planning, and handling accounts or finance-related documentation.

  • Vigilance & Compliance: Supporting internal vigilance activities and ensuring departmental compliance with administrative procedures and staff regulations.

  • Officer with 3+ years in Level‑5, or 5+ years in Level‑4, or 7+ years in Level‑3 pay structures.

  • Capable of handling sensitive documentation, ensuring compliance, and managing localized projects and procurement functions.
