Position: Project Research Scientist‑I (Non‑Medical)

Project: Typically part of ICMR‑funded initiatives like NCAHT (Assistive Health Technology) 
Contract Duration: 1 year (with possible extension based on performance and funding)
Age Limit: Usually up to 35 years (or 40 as per certain guidelines)
Monthly Salary: Around ₹56,000 + HRA (Project Research Scientist‑I); ₹67,000 + HRA (Project Scientist‑II)

Eligibility & Desired Skills

  • Educational Qualification:

    • Postgraduate degree (M.Sc./M.Tech/B.E/B.Tech) in Engineering, IT, Design, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, etc.

    • Ph.D. is often preferred for Scientist‑II roles

  • Professional Skills:

    • Experience in assistive health tech, medical devices, innovation, or start‑up initiatives 

    • Strong molecular biology, biochemical, or device development skills (in relevant domains like cell culture, PCR, IHC, etc.) 

    • Project coordination and report writing abilities (especially for Scientist‑II) 

    • Data/statistical analysis and familiarity with related software tools

 Key Responsibilities

  1. Clinical Need Identification

    • Engage with clinical faculty to identify unmet healthcare needs. 

  2. Conceptual Design & Development

    • Innovate and prototype assistive health technologies; perform iterative testing and refinement.

  3. Laboratory & Pre‑clinical Work

    • If applicable, conduct in vitro/in vivo experiments using molecular or animal models. Project Coordination

    • Plan and monitor project progress, coordinate among multidisciplinary teams. (This is especially critical for Scientist‑II roles.) Data Management & Reporting

    • Analyze, interpret, and present data; draft technical reports; contribute to scientific publications.

  4. Compliance & Administrative Duties

    • Ensure adherence to ethical, biosafety, and ICMR/AIIMS regulatory guidelines; assist in documentation and coordination.
