Local Bank Officer (LBO) – Job Role and Responsibilities
The Local Bank Officer (LBO) plays a key role in promoting banking products and ensuring customer service delivery at the regional or local level. The role is generally contractual and field-oriented, focusing on enhancing the bank's reach and business in the assigned area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Acquisition & Relationship Management:
- Identify and onboard potential customers for various banking products.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers to ensure customer retention and satisfaction.
- Act as the first point of contact for customer queries and grievances.
- Business Development:
- Mobilize deposits and source accounts such as Savings Accounts, Current Accounts, and Fixed Deposits.
- Promote and cross-sell financial products such as loans (Home, Personal, Vehicle), insurance, credit cards, etc.
- Support in meeting the branch/business targets for sales and revenue generation.
- Market Intelligence & Local Area Engagement:
- Conduct field visits and door-to-door marketing to identify business opportunities.
- Gather market intelligence on competitors, local market conditions, and customer preferences.
- Engage with local communities, panchayats, and other institutions to promote the bank’s brand and services.
- Loan Sourcing & Follow-Up:
- Generate leads for retail and MSME loans.
- Help in documentation, application collection, and preliminary customer screening.
- Assist in recovery efforts and loan monitoring where applicable.
- Operational Support:
- Coordinate with branch officials for customer service requests.
- Ensure KYC compliance and accurate customer onboarding documentation.
- Assist in organizing financial literacy camps and customer awareness programs.
- Reporting & Feedback:
- Provide regular updates and MIS reports to regional or zonal officers.
- Offer feedback from the ground to help improve products, services, and outreach strategies.
Nature of Employment:
- Usually contractual in nature (1-3 years, renewable based on performance).
- Field-intensive role with extensive travel within assigned geography.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Preferably local residents with deep knowledge of the local language and area.
- Sales and field marketing experience (especially in BFSI sector) is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
