Qualification

• Group 'A' services of Indian Railways other than IRPFS/IRHS.

Scale of pay

• Rs.37400-67000 GP-10000 (6CPC)/Level-14 (7hCPC), CDA pattern.  or
• Rs.37400-67000 GP-8700 (6thCPC)/Level-13 (7thCPC), CDA pattern with minimum 03 years' service in GP/Level.

Role Overview

Position

Group General Manager – IT (E‑8 level), based at IRCTC’s Corporate Office in New Delhi, appointed on deputation (typically 3 years) 

Reporting

Reports to the Board/Directorate overseeing IT functions; part of the senior management (E8), alongside other functional heads .

 Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic IT Leadership

• Develop and align IT strategy with IRCTC’s corporate goals.

• Oversee planning and roll-out of IT systems, digital ticketing, e‑catering platforms, backend infrastructure, cybersecurity, etc.

2. Project Delivery & Innovation

• Lead end-to-end implementation of major IT initiatives.

• Drive digital innovation—leveraging new technologies for enhanced customer experience, operational efficiency, and cost optimization .

3. IT Operations & Service Quality

• Ensure reliability, availability, and security of all IT services.

• Enforce service-level agreements, governance frameworks, and risk controls.

4. Team & Vendor Management

• Mentor and manage IT teams (e.g., IT Projects, Network, DevOps).

• Supervise vendor engagements: contracts, deliverables, and performance.

5. Budgeting & Resource Planning

• Prepare and manage the annual IT budget.

• Forecast capital and operational expenditure and assess ROI 

6. Stakeholder Coordination

• Collaborate with other corporate functions—Catering, Finance, Marketing, Tourism—for IT needs.

• Present to senior leadership and ensure departmental compliance with IRCTC’s broader strategy.

 Ideal Candidate Profile

• Proven experience leading IT in large-scale, service-oriented organizations—preferably within the railway or public-sector environment.

• Strong grasp of IT infrastructure, enterprise apps, cybersecurity, and software development lifecycles.

• Skilled in digital transformation and vendor contract negotiation.

• Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making ability under regulatory and enterprise governance.

• Tenure: Deputation for 3 years or until repatriation

• Pay scale: E‑8 IDA pattern (₹1,20,000–₹2,80,000 basic) 

• Age limit: < 55 years
