Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Mobilization & Health Education
    • Motivate and encourage community members, especially women and children, to utilize government health services.
    • Create awareness on maternal and child health, family planning, nutrition, sanitation, and hygiene.
    • Promote institutional deliveries and immunizations.
  2. Maternal and Child Health Support
    • Accompany pregnant women for antenatal checkups and deliveries.
    • Ensure postnatal care and newborn health follow-ups.
    • Monitor children’s growth and promote breastfeeding and complementary feeding.
  3. Record-Keeping and Reporting
    • Maintain village health registers.
    • Collect data on births, deaths, immunizations, and other key health indicators.
    • Submit timely reports to ANMs (Auxiliary Nurse Midwives) and Medical Officers.
  4. Support to Health Services
    • Act as a bridge between the community and Primary Health Centre (PHC)/Sub-Centre.
    • Distribute medicines, ORS packets, sanitary napkins, and contraceptives.
    • Support in national health campaigns like pulse polio, TB detection, and vector-borne disease control.
  5. Facilitator in Government Schemes
    • Assist beneficiaries in availing services under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), PMMVY, and other maternal welfare schemes.
    • Help in the enrollment and awareness of health insurance and social welfare programs.
  6. Referral Services
    • Identify and refer cases of illness, malnutrition, or high-risk pregnancies to nearby health centers.
    • Assist in emergency transportation arrangements.
  7. Capacity Building Participation
    • Attend regular training sessions and monthly review meetings conducted by health authorities.
