1. Overview of NHPC Apprentice Roles

NHPC is hiring a total of 361 apprentices across various streams including Graduate, Diploma, and ITI trades for a 1-year apprenticeship program under Advt. No. NH/Rectt./03/2025. Applications are open from 11 July to 11 August 2025

Apprenticeship Categories:

  • Graduate Apprentices: Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, E&C), plus Executive roles such as HR, Finance, CSR, Law, Public Relations, Rajbhasha, Nursing & Physiotherapy, Safety 

  • Diploma Apprentices: Similar technical & non‑technical disciplines including Lab Tech, Pharmacy, Hospitality, Safety 

  • ITI Apprentices: Trades like Electrician, Plumber, Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Draughtsman, Computer Operator, Stenographer, Health Inspector etc. 

2. Duties and Responsibilities

While there isn't a detailed “job description” document publicly available for apprentices, typical responsibilities are as follows:

Technical/Engineering Apprentices:

  • Assist in project sites—such as hydroelectric power stations or offices.

  • Support project-in-charge with technical tasks: construction, installations, testing, troubleshooting, drafting reports.

  • Learn and apply safety standards, quality controls, and operational procedures.

  • Participate in on‑site learning under senior engineers.

 Executive / Functional Apprentices:

Depending on the role (HR, Finance, CSR, Law, etc.), apprentices may be involved in:

  • Administrative assistance, documentation, coordination.

  • Core-domain learning: compliance, accounts, legal research, PR/communication support, language translation, health‑care protocols.

 General Apprentice Responsibilities (across all trades):

  • Follow project guidelines, rules and site safety regulations.

  • Complete assigned training and learning modules under supervision.

  • Submit reports or presentations on assigned tasks and apprenticeship learnings.

  • Adhere to company policies and apprenticeship norms.

3. Selection & Stipend Details

  • Selection Process: Merit-based evaluation using marks obtained in relevant qualifications (10th, 12th, Diploma/Graduation/ITI) with trade-specific weightage

Stipend:

    • Graduate Apprentice – ₹15,000/month

    • Diploma Apprentice – ₹13,500/month

    • ITI Apprentice – ₹12,000/month 

4. Training Duration & Reporting Structure

  • Training Duration: 1 year apprenticeship as per NATS/NAPS norms.

  • Apprentices will typically report to a mentor or supervisor—for engineering roles, senior engineers on-site; for executive roles, departmental heads.
