MYSURU:Trekking, surya namaskar, walkathon, health camps, dance competition and many more events are being lined up by a subcommittee as part of Yoga Dasara event scheduled between September 21 and October 9.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, additional superintendent of police Kala Krishnaswamy, who is the special officer of the committee, said that 10 yoga programmes have been chalked out for the Dasara celebrations to encourage people to take up yoga for better health.
She said that the committee is organizing free Ayush camps for mahouts, kavadis and their families from August 26 to October 15. The committee had taken up Yoga Prabhodha for teachers, Ayush doctors, students and public at Maharaja's College Centenary Bhavan on September 21.
Yoga Parivarthana programme will be organized from September 22 to 29 for the inmates of the central jail, and Yoga Dance Competition for yoga practitioners at Ayush. On September 25, Yoga Arogya Bharathi will be held for yoga practitioners and public. From September 26 to October 1, Yoga Kaushalya will be held for Armed Reserved Force personnel at CAR grounds. Around 200 people will participate in the event, Kala Krishnaswamy added.
The committee will also organize trekking for yoga practitioners at Chamundi Hillsfrom 6am to 9am on September 27.
On October 2, over 2,000 people will participate in the mass surya namaskar. Later, Yoga Nadige, a walkathon, will be taken out from Mysuru Palace premises to the DC's office.
On October 5 and 6, a national-level Yoga Semmelan will be organized at Maharaja's College Centenary Bhavan. On October 9, a state-level yoga competition will be held at Sri Kote Anjeneyya Swamy Temple near Mysuru Palace, she added.
