We are looking for a passionate skincare specialist to improve the health and appearance of our clients' skin and offer recommendations for skincare products and routines. You will be required to do waxing or lasering to remove unwanted hair and to keep your work area hygienic at all times.

To ensure success as a skincare specialist, you should possess an in-depth knowledge of lifestyle, health, and skincare issues and should enjoy teaching your clients about methods to improve their appearance. An excellent skincare specialist should keep abreast of current skincare treatments to provide the best service.

Skincare Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Assessing the condition of clients' skin and providing the appropriate treatment.
  • Providing skincare treatments, such as peels, masks, and scrubs, to remove dead or dry skin.
  • Massaging the head, neck, or full body to improve the health and appearance of customers’ skin and make them feel relaxed.
  • Advising clients about healthy living and steps to reduce the aging process.
  • Recommending skincare products and teaching customers about skincare techniques.
  • Educating customers about make-up application techniques.
  • Keeping updated records of clients’ skincare regimens.
  • Recommending skincare products, such as cleansers, lotions, and creams, and selling these to clients.
  • Sterilizing equipment and ensuring work areas are clean and sanitary.

Skincare Specialist Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Certification from a state-approved esthetician or cosmetology training program.
  • A state license.
  • Completion of approximately 600 working hours (state-dependent), setting up workstations, sanitizing equipment, and performing treatments.
  • Stamina to endure providing massages and long working hours.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of skincare health and safety protocols.
  • Above-average customer service skills and a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Excellent time-management skills and strict adherence to appointment scheduling.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients’ skin conditions and concerns through consultation and analysis.

  • Recommend personalized skincare treatments, routines, and products.

  • Perform professional treatments such as facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, exfoliation, masks, and other therapies.

  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and welcoming treatment environment in compliance with safety and hygiene standards.

  • Educate clients about skincare best practices, aftercare, and product usage.

  • Stay updated on skincare trends, technologies, and professional certifications.

  • Manage client records, including treatment history and progress tracking.

  • Promote and sell skincare products and services to meet business goals.

  • Collaborate with dermatologists, cosmetologists, or other beauty professionals as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma/Certification in Esthetics, Cosmetology, or related field.

  • Valid state license (where applicable).

  • Strong knowledge of skin types, conditions, and treatment techniques.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Customer-focused with a professional, friendly demeanor.

  • Attention to detail and ability to personalize treatments.

  • Sales and product knowledge skills (preferred).

Core Responsibilities

  1. Skin Analysis

    • Examine clients’ skin type and condition (oily, dry, sensitive, acne-prone, aging, etc.).

    • Identify concerns like wrinkles, pigmentation, acne, or dehydration.

  2. Treatment & Services

    • Perform facials, peels, masks, exfoliation, and cleansing.

    • Provide advanced treatments (microdermabrasion, LED therapy, chemical peels, etc.) if certified.

    • Offer hair removal (waxing, threading, or laser, depending on training).

    • Recommend and apply makeup for events or daily use.

  3. Product Knowledge & Recommendation

    • Suggest suitable skincare products for each client.

    • Educate clients about proper skincare routines (morning & night).

  4. Client Care & Consultation

    • Listen to client concerns and provide tailored solutions.

    • Track progress and update treatment plans.

    • Build long-term client relationships.

  5. Safety & Hygiene

    • Maintain a clean, sanitized workspace and equipment.

    • Follow skin safety guidelines to avoid irritation or infections.

  6. Professional Development

    • Stay updated with new skincare trends and technologies.

    • Attend workshops and earn certifications for advanced treatments.

  7. Business Side (if freelancing or running own studio)

    • Manage appointments, payments, and customer service.

    • Market services on social media or through referrals.
