MRI stands for Magnetic Resonance Imaging. It is a medical imaging technique used to generate images of inner human anatomy. MRI scan uses magnetic and radiofrequency waves to generate images of internal organs of human body. Images generated this way are then used to diagnose diseases and other conditions present inside the human body and organs.

A Radiologic Technologist, also known as a medical radiation technologist and as a radiographer, performs imaging of the human body for diagnosis or treating medical problems. First, the course will prepare the student to understand the nature of the disease. Then the hands-on experience in the department of Radiology from day one onwards will enable the student to understand the nature of the illness beginning with routine imaging to CT and MRI scans. The students will receive excellent and exhaustive training in these fields to be able to assist senior radiologists.

 

Eligibility Criteria for BSS Diploma in MRI Scan Technician

 

The applicant must be completed 10th Examination or Plus two or it's equivalent from a recognized school board.

Main tasks of an MRI technician

 

  • Preparing the patient for the scan

  • Providing instructions to the patient

  • Setting up the MRI scanner

  • Adjusting the MRI scanner parameters

  • Positioning the patient for the scan

  • Operate the scanner (handle the controls and/or software)

  • Record the scanned images and results

  • Follow necessary safety precautions and directions

  • Candidate should have an eye for detail, be self-sufficient, precise, dedicated and self-motivated also are a good suit for it.

  • They should be healthy and sturdy as they may need to work a good deal of time, standing for hours.

  • They should have the ability to conduct research, finish tasks with speed and accuracy, to handle stress, make an analytical judgment, interpreting technical/scientific data, knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, mechanical ability and the ability to use computers is the most suitable for this course

Higher Studies after BSS Diploma in MRI Scan Technician

 

  • Students who have completed plus two and one years of certificate course in MRI Scan Technician are eligible for the direct entry of the second year of B. Voc course (3rd semester) in Radiology and Imaging Technology.

  • Those who have completed SSLC and one year of certificate course in MRI Scan Technician are eligible for the B.Voc course in Radiology and Imaging Technology.
