B.Sc. Forestry - Stands for Bachelor of Science in Forestry. Typically, a B.Sc. is for three years, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate(10+2) in science. Forestry is the science and art of managing tree plantations, forests and related resources. Subjects studied under this degree are Wood Science and Technology, Agroforestry, Medicinal & Aromatic Plants, Forest Genetic Resources and Forest Biotechnology

Basic Eligibility

For admission in a bachelor’s degree program a student must pass higher secondary education or 10+2 with biology, chemistry and physics as the main subject and minimum of 55%-60% marks from any Institute/university. The duration of the program is of 3 years.

Job Prospects

After achieving a bachelor’s degree in botany, an individual can work as a biological technician, whereas a post graduate degree holder in botany makes him/her eligible for choosing a career in teaching or to take up research work in any well-known university.
Moreover, one can join any reputed organization as plant explorers, conservationists, ecologists, environment consultants, horticulturist, plant biochemist, nursery manager, genetics, molecular biologist, taxonomist, plant pathologist, environmental consultant and farming consultant.

Those who want to start their career as a teacher or researcher can expect a salary ranging from Rs18,000 to Rs.20,000 per month.For those working in other sectors can initially earn a salary in between Rs.15,000 to Rs. 25,000 per month and the salary might reach up to Rs.80,000 per month depending on the above factors.
