Computer Hardware Technicians are responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of computer systems. They must have knowledge regarding the integration of hardware boards, random access memory, motherboard, processor and other essential components.
Usually, Computer Hardware Technicians work with equipment such as desktop, laptops and servers etc. This job is all about balancing the technical and client support tasks by resolving any errors that occur.
Eligibility Criteria for B. Voc in Computer Hardware

Students who have completed plus two are eligible to get admission in the B.Voc course generally.

Those who have qualified SSLC and completed one year of BSS Post Diploma course in Computer Hardware Maintenance are eligible to get admission to the B. Voc course.

Students who have completed Plus two and one year of BSS Post Diploma course in Computer Hardware Maintenance are eligible to get direct admission to the second year of B. Voc course (3rd semester).
Course Duration

Three years for those who enter into the course generally.

Candidates who have completed relevant and equivalent course are possible to get admission through lateral entry scheme (For further reference check Eligibility criteria section).
Job Duties

Design new computer hardware, creating blueprints of computer equipment to be built

Test the completed models of the computer hardware they design

Analyze the test results and modify the design as needed

Update existing computer equipment so that it will work with new software

Requirements

Design and test new computer hardware and equipment to meet customer specifications or in-house project requirements, and participate in all aspects of development from initial planning to production

Analyze design plans and project requirement data to create comprehensive testing procedures to verify that components and features operate correctly and meet operational benchmarks

Coordinate with developers, project managers, engineering teams and quality assurance personnel to resolve technical issues during development, testing and production

Test existing hardware components, including processors, circuit boards and network equipment, to define operational parameters and recommend necessary upgrades and replacements to meet current and future performance standards

Oversee manufacturing and production of new hardware, including development of operational prototypes, to verify compliance with design plans and testing procedures

Maintain professional knowledge base of computer engineering trends and technological advances by reading industry publications, attending tradeshows and conferences and pursuing professional education

Ensure new hardware systems and equipment work correctly with computer software programs according to performance requirements, and modify hardware as necessary to address errors and other concerns
