B.Voc Anaesthesia Technology course is for the students who wish to learn about anaesthesia equipment, anaesthesia agents, techniques as well as dosage in order to ensure a better monitoring of the patient.

The theoritical knowledge and practical oriented classes gained by the students through B.Voc in Anaesthesia Technology helps them in choosing the right anaesthetic treatment for a patient and its dosage.

Who is an Anesthesia Technologist?

• Gives pre-operative and intra-operative patient care regarding anesthesia preparation and induction.

• Arrange anesthesia machines/equipment, monitoring equipment, and supplies for procedures per department expectations and according to the scope of practice.

• Anticipates needs by obtaining/preparing proper equipment.

• Delivers needed or required supplies and/or equipment.

• Instantaneous assistance to anesthetist in performing anesthesia procedures.

• Assists the surgical team in the event of any complications arising in anesthetics, or emergency conditions.

• Maintains the appropriate performance of skills roster/competencies related to patient care including surgical positioning and surgical skin preparation.

• Transports patients in a safe and timely manner according to department protocol.

Mission of B.Voc Anesthesia Technology is to:

• Develop highly skilled, competent and committed professional anesthesia technologists to work and strengthen the surgical healthcare workforce in the region.

• Make graduates to assume leadership roles in operation room policies and standards through a challenging teaching-learning environment, evidence-based research and interprofessional collaboration.

• Produce anesthesia technologist professionals of international standards and setting a benchmark to attract the best of students. 

Eligibility Criteria for B. Voc in Anesthesia Technology

• Students who completed plus two and two years of BSS Diploma course in Anesthesia Technology is eligible to get direct admission to the third year of B. Voc course (5th semester)

• Those who qualified SSLC and two year of BSS Diploma course in Anesthesia Technology are eligible to get direct admission to the second year of B. Voc course (3rd semester)

Course Duration

• Three years for those who enter into the course generally.

• Candidates who completed BSS diploma course are possible to get admission through lateral entry scheme (For further reference check Eligibility criteria section)
